Something to give

everyone has something to give

Sometimes life just has you in a rut.  You feel as if no one cares, or no one listens.  Maybe you even feel like the path you’ve taken isn’t the right one for you.  I go down that road from time to time.  Although, I don’t wonder what I’m supposed to be doing with my life.  I always wonder how am I supposed to be helping others with what I am doing.  Do I have something to give to others?

Am I alone in thinking this way? I don’t think so.

Not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of others. Philippians 2:4

To be honest, that was the reason I started this blog.  I needed an outlet, a way to allow myself to be heard – even if only by a few people.  So, thank you, friend, for listening for allowing me to feel that I have something worth sharing, something that others could benefit from.

And, I think I’m right.  I think we all have something to give, something to share with the world.

Every good and perfect gift is from above…   James 1:17

What I find absolutely shocking is that when I look at my own daughters, I realize that they talk and talk and talk.  And, sometimes it doesn’t even matter if anyone is listening because they think that what they say is valuable.  As adults, we seem to lack that same self-confidence that we had as children.  Why? Where did it go? Can we get it back?

I believe we can.  I believe the source of the problem is that the older we get, the more we follow human ways.

God wants us to lead lives that glorify Him.

And, unfortunately, that is much easier said than done.  We turn to our neighbors and worry about what they think of us, and what they’ll say.  Instead, we should focus on what He thinks of us, what He will say when the time comes to meet Him face to face.

In Ephesians 5, we are told, “Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children; and walk in love, just as Christ also loved you and gave Himself up for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God as a fragrant aroma.”

Can you honestly say, that you are walking a Christ-like life? I cannot.  BUT I can say that each day I am striving to do better than the day before.

Your Challenge: Focus on one way that you can model Christ today.  Tell us what you’re focus is today, and let us know how it’s going.  We are all here to love and support each other.

A bientot,

P.S. I’m going to focus on carving out time to pray with God.

  1. Loved this post! I sure do want to regain the confidence I’ve had as a child, but I do struggle in this area. I do need to concern myself more with pleasing my Heavenly Father (and caring about what He thinks) this takes the weight and fear off my own shoulders.

  2. I loved reading this. You are absolutely right, we all have something to share and as adults, the world gets to us. We do easily enter into a “what will they think?” mindset. Im not doing much today but I’m going to model Christ’s love by doing something for my husband. I’m not sure what, maybe I’ll make him his favorite dessert 🙂

    1. Oh, that’s awesome! What is his favorite dessert? I need to do something for my hubby, too! Thanks for that idea! I’m not a cook, but I have been bringing him breakfast in bed this week. 😉
